How to Cook the perfect Basmati Rice for Biriyani:
The success of a biryani depends partly on how you cook the rice.
Some followers often complain of their biryani being grainy or too mushy and the explanation for this lies in the way the simple basmati rice for biryani is cooked.
Follow all the steps I have given below to cook a perfect flavorful Biriyani.

To cook the rice:

πΊ3 cups Basmati Rice
πΊ3 tablespoons Salt
πΊ1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
πΊ2 Bay leaf
πΊ2 tablespoons of Ghee
πΊ2 pieces Cinnamon stick
πΊ4 Cardamom pods
πΊPinch of Red food coloring (optional)
Method:
πMeantime add 3 cups basmati rice to a large bowl.and rinse it at least thrice. Drain and soak in fresh water for 30 minutes.
πAdd 12 cups of water to a deep pan followed by the bay leaf,cumin seeds,cinnamon stick.Make sure to add more salt,Stir it well to dissolve the salt.it should taste like sea water.then only the biriyani will taste good.cook in very high heat.
πOnce the water starts boiling add the strained basmati rice,stir it well and continue to boil it On high heat,Stirring few times very gently not to break the rice,Boil for 8-10 minutes until the rice is 75%done.
π You can either press the rice grains between the forefinger and thumb. While pressing the rice grains should break into half.
πSwitch Off the fire and strain out all the water.
πset it aside.
πAdd the half cooked and strained rice on top of the curry,spread it uniformly,sprinkle some fried onions,coriander leaves,Food colour powder on top Of the rice.close with a tight lid.
π Cook in very low heat for 15 minutes or until the water is dry.this tends to infuse all the lovely biriyani flavor into the rice as it steams
