Fish Curry in Clay Pot
My versionπ
Ingredients:
π 1 kg of fish
π 1 big onion sliced
π 2 tablespoons red chilli powder (add according to your spice level)
π 1 medium Tomato
π 5-6 Garlic pods
π 4-5 cups of thick or thin coconut milk
π 1 teaspoon pepper powder
π 4 Tablespoons Coriander or curry powder or you can mix both
π 2-4 green chili
π 1 teaspoons Frenugeek seeds
π 7-8 pieces of Tamarind or Goraka 2 piece
Tempering ingredients:
πΏ2-4 tablespoons Oil
πΏMustard seeds
πΏPandan leaves,
πΏCurry leaves
πΏ2-3 dries chillies
πΏ2-3 Garlic cloves Crushed (optional)
πΏCinnamon stick small piece (optional)
πΏ2-3 cardamom (optional)
Method:
1.Wash the fish and marinate with salt 1 teaspoon red chili powder,pinch of turmeric powder,1/2 teaspoons cumin powder.salt ,tamarind 4 pieces.mix it and Leave it aside until you make the gravy.
- Add to a bowl,coconut milk,coriander powder,1 tablespoons chilli powder ,salt ,The onions,reserve little for tempering.tomatoes ,green chilli,garlic pods,pepper powder and keep it aside.
- Meantime add oil to a pan add tempering ingredients plus the onions,add the 1 tablespoons chilli powder to the oil to give a nice color,mix it.
- Add the gravy mix ,add little water to the bowl and add to it.cook on medium flame .
- When the gravy boils,stir it,reduce the flame close with a lid and cook for about 5-10 minutes .
- Arrange the marinated fish to the gravy and drizzle the frenugeek seeds on top of the fish.bring the curry to a boil,close with the lid and cook for 5-6 minutes.untill the fish is cooked well and switch off the fire π₯
