Malay Pickle:

Ingredients:

250g dates

500 g small onions ( shallots)

 2-3 Capsicums (Banana Peppers)

1-2 large carrot

10-12 Green chili  

2 tablespoon red chili powder(or Chili Flakes)

salt to taste

2 tablespoons Mustard Seeds

2 cups of vinegar

Salt per taste 

1 tablespoon sugar or jaggery  

Salted lime pickle cut into pieces 

1 Raw mango (optional)

1 tablespoon Lemon juice

1 big Onion cut into cubes

2 tablespoons Tomato Sauce

1”Cinnamon stick

Method:

1.Clean onions.pitted the dates and keep it aside.

2.Slice  capsicums (Banana Peppers)  cut carrots into stripes and slit the green chili length ways.

3.Blend half of the pitted dates and half of the vinegar with the Mustard seeds,Chili powder,salt ,sugar,lemon juice,Cinnamon stick into a thick purée

4.Make the Acharuwa look in a Clay pot or a glass bowl.

5.Add the blended dates mixture and mix well.Add the remaining vinegar and mix well.Add all the remaining ingredients.check the salt.

6.Make it one day ahead before use.you can refrigerate up to 6months in a glass jar.
