Here's a Simple and easy Chicken Katsu recipe!
Chicken Katsu チキンカツ
Ingredients:
📌2 large chicken breasts (leave them whole)
📌Salt and pepper, to taste
📌1/2 cup all-purpose flour
📌2 large eggs, beaten
📌1 cup panko breadcrumbs
📌Vegetable oil, for frying
📌Tonkatsu sauce (or any preferred sauce) for serving
Method:
1️⃣Wash the chicken well and pat dry with kitchen towel.
2️⃣Gently pound them with a meat mallet or rolling pin until they are about 1/2 inch thick. This helps the chicken cook evenly and stay juicy while frying.
3️⃣Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
4️⃣Prepare the coating board:
📌Set up three shallow dishes or a coating board to organize the breading process.
📌In the first dish, add the flour.
📌In the second dish, beat the eggs.
In the third dish, add the panko breadcrumbs.
5️⃣Start by dredging the chicken in the flour, ensuring it's evenly coated. Shake off any excess.
6️⃣Next, dip the floured chicken into the beaten eggs, making sure it's fully coated.
7️⃣Finally, coat the chicken in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently so the breadcrumbs stick well.
8️⃣Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
9️⃣Fry the chicken breasts for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and the chicken is cooked through.
🔟Remove the chicken from the oil and drain on paper towels.
📌Slice the chicken into strips and serve with tonkatsu sauce or your preferred dipping sauce.
📌Enjoy your perfectly coated and crispy Chicken Katsu!
