Beef Thakkadi Aka Beef Dumplings:
π·π·This is a famous recipe among Sri Lankan muslims.
Beef Curry Ingredients:
πΉ1 kg Beef (you can add more )
πΉ1 Medium onion
πΉ1/2 medium tomato
πΉ2-3 green chillies
πΉCurry leaves
πΉpandan leaves( Rampe)
πΉ2 tablespoons ginger and garlic paste
πΉ1/2 teaspoons Fenugreek seeds
πΉCinnamon stick small piece
πΉ3-4 Cardamom pods
πΉ Salt to taste
πΉ2 tablespoons chillie powder (you can add more if you want spicy)
πΉ4 tablespoons coriander powder
πΉ1 teaspoon Cummin powder
πΉ1/4 teaspoons turmeric powder
πΉ2 tablespoons oil
πΉ3-4 cups thick coconut Milk
Method:
1.Put oil to a deep pot.
2.add cinnamon ,cardamom,rampe,ginger and garlic paste,sautΓ© it add the onions chilli powder.
3.Marinte the Beef with all the other ingredients and add it to the oil.stir it.
4.now add more water to cook the Beef.
5.if you want to knead the dumpling dough with the gravy add 2 more additional cups of water.
6.let the Beef cook until 80%.
7.Now make the rice flour mix.
Dumpling ingredients:
πΉ4 cups Rice flour
πΉ1 1/2 cups scraped coconut (optional)
πΉ2 onions chopped
πΉ3-4 green chilli chopped (optional)
πΉCurry leaves chopped
πΉSalt
Method:
- Add everything into a bowl add the hot gravy or hot water ( you can add Both)mix the dough . break it into small pieces and roll it like a ball and press with your finger tip and make a dent in the center.
- Once the dumplings are done Gently Drop them into the gravy.close the pot with a lid and cook on medium flame so the dumplings won’t dissolve in the gravy.
- While the dumplings are cooking make sure the dough balls don’t stick to each other while they are still cooking.
- Avoid stirring or using a a spoon once you’ve added all the dumplings.shake the pan gently to move them about or gently use a wooden stick to turn it.
- The dumplings should be submerged completely in the gravy.
- Increase the heat to medium and cook for 15 minutes.
- Then add thick coconut milk,let it boil in medium heat then keep it in low flame (close with the lid)for 10 more minutes.
- You will notice the dumplings curry getting thicker with less gravy,
- Taste and add salt if necessary.
- It tastes Awesome With an Onion kachumbari.
